co-located with the 21st Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering
(SBES.07)

Motivation

Aspect-Oriented Software Development (AOSD) is an increasingly important
paradigm in software development whereby novel notions of modularity and
composition mechanisms are discussed with the goal of taming concerns
that crosscut traditional abstraction boundaries.

The First Latin-American Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Software
Development (LA-WASP.07) aims at bringing together the Latin-American
research community interested in topics related to AOSD to share and
discuss ideas, strengthen research group collaborations and identify new
research opportunities. The LA-WASP.07 workshop follows from the three
successful editions of the Brazilian Workshop on AOSD (WASP.04, WASP.05
and WASP.06) that gathered researchers from all parts of Brazil, and
from the LatinAOSD network (Latin-American Network on Aspect-Oriented
Software Development), sponsored by the Brazilian National Counsel of
Technological and Scientific Development (CNPq).

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Requirements Engineering (Early Aspects)
- Software Architectures, Product Lines and Frameworks
- Design Languages
- UML and Model-Oriented Architectures
- General-Purpose and Domain-Specific Aspect Languages
- Software Processes
- Metrics and Assessment
- Reuse, Maintenance and Adaptability
- Software Verification, Validation and Testing
- Software Re-engineering and Refactoring
- Contracts, Components and Aspects
- Interference and Composition of Aspects
- Dynamic Configuration
- Computational Reflection and Metaprogramming
- Aspect-Oriented Middleware
- Formal Methods
- Development Methods
- Development Environments and Tools
- Industrial Applications of AOSD
- Practical studies involving AOSD
- Comparative Studies Between AOSD and Other Development Paradigms
- AOSD Education

Wokshop Format

LA-WASP.07 is a two-day workshop and will be strongly focused on discussion.
The workshop program includes international keynote speakers, technical
paper presentations, poster exhibitions, structured group discussions, and
a panel. The workshop will also host the second meeting of the LatinAOSD Network.

Submission Guidelines

The workshop will accept both full papers (up to 12 pages) and
short papers (up to 6 pages). Papers should preferrably be written in
English, but can also be written in Portuguese or Spanish. Submitted
papers must be unpublished and should not be under review elsewhere. The
acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will
register for the workshop to present it. All submissions must be in PDF
format, and must follow the Brazilian Computer Society paper guidelines
(http://www.sbc.org.br/index.php?language=1&subject=60&content=downloads ).
All papers must be submitted using the JEMS conference system
(https://submissoes.sbc.org.br).

Papers will be reviewed according the the following criteria: originality,
technical quality, relevance, adequacy to the workshop scope and clarity.
Papers describing preliminary work are eligible as "short papers".
Theoretical papers must emphasize practical contribution to Software Engineering,
and experimental papers must describe the method used to interpret the qualitative
and quantitative results. Papers will be peer reviewed according to recommendations of
the committee. Selected long papers will be presented during the technical sessions
and selected short papers will be presented in the poster exhibition.
The program committee may accept as "short paper" a paper originally submitted as
a full paper, and authors of such submissions will have the choice of accepting this decision
and modifying their manuscript accordingly, or retracting the submission.
The accepted papers and a summary of the discussions will be compiled into
a technical report that will be posted on the workshop's website.
The accepted papers will also be published in the SBBD-SBES
conference CD. If there is a significant amount of submissions of
high quality, the workshop committee will consider submitting them to a
special issue of some journal.
